The British adults who were surveye did tend to stick to British-base players, with Ronaldo, Bellingham and Mbappe the only non-Premier League players making the top 10.

Arsenal’s Declan Rice will be pretty happy with his fourth-placed finish, while Erling Haaland’s Nordic charm has earned him ninth on the list.

The surveye people were aske to weigh up the attractiveness of 50 stars base on qualities including ‘facial symmetry and features, grooming and personal style, on-field presence and charisma, and social media appeal and engagement.’

The battle for top spot was a pretty close-run thing, with Palmer landing 19 per cent of the vote, just ahead of Real Madrid superstar Jude Bellingham who earned 17 per cent.

Jack Grealish may be having a very quiet time on the pitch, but he has not lost his charm, with the Manchester City winger getting 15 per cent of the vote.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Bukayo Saka and Marcus Rashford all also made the top 10, ahead of Ronaldo as the Saudi-base legend had to settle for eighth and six per cent of the vote.

Palmer will hope the boost to the confidence will help him rediscover his best form on the pitch after something of a dry spell.
